The Gambia and the State of Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the fields of education, higher education and scientific research.

The MoU was signed by Hon. Badara A. Joof, Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, The Gambia and HE Dr. Mohammed Abdul Wahed al Hammadi, Qatar Minister of Education and Higher Education in the presence of Ambassador the Republic of The Gambia in Qatar H.E Foday Malang and other senior officials from Ministries of Higher education of both countries.

The MoU included the development of cooperation in the field of public education, deepening of ties between the two countries in higher education, scientific research and technology, as well as the development of cooperation between universities in both countries through the exchange of visits by students and professors, in addition to the exchange of experience in various related areas.
