Gambian Philanthropist in the USA Donates Books to UTG

On Wednesday, 22nd March 2023, the Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology, Professor Pierre Gomez, together with his Permanent Secretary, Dr Yusupha Touray, delivered books to The University of The Gambia, donated by Dr Baboucarr Jobe, Dean of Social Science, Education, Early Childhood and Education Preparatory Institute, at the United States of America (USA).

Mr. Bai Secka, former Permanent Secretary and retired civil servant of The Gambia Government, coordinated the delivery of the books on behalf of Dr. Jobe.

The Vice Chancellor of UTG, Professor Herbert Robinson was delighted by the generous donation. He highlighted that books are the driving force of education.

“We need this and we are grateful for it,” said Prof Robinson.

Furthermore, Hon. Prof Gomez stated that the books will be helpful for students and lecturers at the UTG.

“These are books of different subject areas. I have no doubt that The University of The Gambia will make good use of it,” said Prof Gomez, encouraging that Gambians wherever they are can give back to the country and contribute towards national development.
