The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology is hosting a two-day capacity building workshop on the use and understanding of the Education Management Information System (EMIS). The EMIS is developed by InSIST Global under the UNESCO KOICA Project support.
In attendance of this first-batch of training are key representatives and technical staff of the Management Development Institute, Gambia College, National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority, MoHERST, Chamen Technical Training Centre and others.
In his opening remarks, Samba Sowe, Principal Science, Technology and Innovation Officer highlighted the significance of the workshop in enabling participants to be able to input data of their institutions directly in the Education Management Information System.
He went on to underline that the system is online and will not only create a link between the Ministry and institutions under its purview, but also, do away with the use of spreadsheets and avoid delays in timely submission of data.
“The system is developed in such a way that it can respond to the current national data needs of the Ministry, ensure intergovernmental and other partner data needs are readily available and accessible at any given point in time,” said Mr. Sowe.
