Meet Fatou M Bah, a 21-year-old student of Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI). She is passionate and not the least intimidated to study construction, a field that is widely considered to be male dominant in the country.
As a student Technician in Construction, Fatou is pleased at the fact that she is able to put theory to practice by studying at one of the country’s top public technical training institutions. With a smile on her face, she describes studying at GTTI as quite ‘cool’ and ‘normal’.
In the future, Miss Bah aspires to further her education in engineering, open her own construction company and serve as a role model to many young girls in the country and beyond.
She encourages students, especially females, who want to study construction but are hesitant, to just DO IT.
“If you want to build your own family and help others, think of studying construction,” she advised.
