The nationwide tour by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST), in partnership with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), concluded on Day 5 at the USET Kanifing Campus. Led by the Gender Focal Point, Ms. Kumba Jammeh, alongside a delegation of education stakeholders, the engagement brought together female students for the final leg of the tour focused on advancing girls’ participation in STEM and TVET.
The session provided a dynamic platform for students to share experiences, discuss opportunities and challenges, and engage in meaningful dialogue on strengthening female inclusion in technical and science-related fields. Discussions highlighted the importance of mentorship, peer support, and creating enabling environments where young women can thrive academically and professionally.
Students expressed strong interest in initiatives that promote digital skills, entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership, while the delegation encouraged them to seize emerging opportunities and remain committed to pursuing careers in STEM and technical disciplines.
As the tour concluded at USET Kanifing, the engagement reaffirmed MoHERST and COL’s shared commitment to strengthening female participation across USET campuses, amplifying girls’ voices in shaping inclusive education pathways, and advancing efforts to bridge gender gaps in education so that no girl is left behind.
