The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST), under the leadership of Honorable Minister Professor Pierre Gomez, officially conducted the site handover ceremony for the construction of 27 new classrooms at the University of Education, The Gambia (UEG).

The ceremony, attended by Permanent Secretary Ms. Isatou Auber alongside a delegation from MoHERST and the MRC-Holland Foundation, marked the formal commencement of the infrastructure development project at the university.

MoHERST expressed sincere appreciation to the MRC-Holland Foundation for sponsoring this important initiative at UEG. The project represents the first phase of the university’s broader transformation agenda aimed at expanding and modernizing higher education infrastructure in The Gambia.

Speaking during the ceremony, Honorable Minister Professor Pierre Gomez thanked Henrietta Sonko and the MRC-Holland Foundation for their unwavering support and continued contributions to the higher education sector in the country.

The initiative forms part of ongoing national efforts to strengthen teaching and learning environments, improve access to quality tertiary education, and support institutional growth and national development.
