It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that the Ministry of Higher Education Research Science and Technology along with all the agencies under it, extend our deepest condolences on the untimely passing of Yunusa Mbaye, a former Vice President of the University of The Gambia Students' Union, whose life of service, leadership, and commitment has left a lasting impact on the university community.
During his time in office, Yunusa played a vital role not only in strengthening the Students' Union but also in advancing the broader interests of the students' association. By virtue of his position, he also served as a senator, where he continued to represent students with dedication, vision, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Yunusa will be remembered for his remarkable contributions both academically and socially, as well as for his outstanding spirit of service to the University of The Gambia.
He distinguished himself as a leader who cared deeply about the welfare of students and worked tirelessly to promote unity, representation, and progress within the institution. His efforts and commitment to community service made him a respected figure among his peers and a source of inspiration to many.
In this difficult moment, we extend our sincere sympathies to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire University of The Gambia community. We pray that they find strength, comfort, and peace in the memories of his life and in the legacy he leaves behind. The loss of Yunusa is deeply felt by all who knew him and by those whose lives he touched through his leadership and service.
As we mourn this painful loss, we also respectfully call for calm and restraint, and urge everyone to allow the relevant authorities and security agencies to carry out their investigations without interference.
