The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET), Prof. Nazmat Surajudeen-Bakinde, has welcomed participants to the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) workshop focused on Gender-Responsive STEM/TVET and mentorship system development.

In her statement, she emphasized the importance of inclusive and equitable education systems in driving sustainable development, noting that STEM and TVET sectors can only reach their full potential when accessible to all, especially women and girls.

She reaffirmed USET’s commitment to promoting gender-responsive systems through inclusive curricula, supportive learning environments, and structured mentorship programmes aimed at empowering underrepresented groups.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged participants to actively engage, share insights, and contribute to building sustainable and impactful gender-responsive frameworks.

The workshop brings together key stakeholders to strengthen mentorship systems and advance gender equality in higher education.
