SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

The Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure (MOTWI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST), is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Engineering Scholarship Award Scheme (ESS) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year at the Regional Maritime University (RMU), Accra, Ghana.

This initiative forms part of the Government’s commitment to developing a highly skilled workforce in the maritime and engineering sectors and strengthening national human capital.

1. Scholarship Overview

The scholarship targets ten (10) outstanding Gambian students who have successfully completed Grade 12 and wish to pursue undergraduate studies in engineering and related disciplines. Selection will be based on candidates’ performance in the 2025 or 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Eligible and suitably qualified Gambian applicants are hereby invited to submit their applications for consideration under the Scholarship Award Scheme within the stipulated application period.

Female students are strongly encouraged to apply.

1. Nautical Science
2. Marine Engineering
3. Electrical/Electronic Engineering
4. Mechanical Engineering
5. Computer Science Engineering
6. Naval Architecture

3. Application Requirements

Applicants must:

* Be a Gambian citizen;
* Be 21 years of age or younger;
* Have obtained at least seven (7) credits in the WASSCE; and
* Have credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and other relevant subjects.

Applicants must also submit the following documents to the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (MoHERST), Opposite GTUCCU Complex, Kanifing:

* Printed application form and GovPay payment receipt;
* WASSCE certificate;
* Academic transcript; and
* Valid identification document (Passport or National ID Card).

4. Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of D100 is payable through the Government Payment Platform (GovPay).

Payments can be made at any of the following banks:

* Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank)
* Vista Bank
