Position: Loans Manager

The Student Revolving Loan Scheme (SRLS), a statutory institution established in 2025 to facilitate equitable access to tertiary and higher education in The Gambia, invites applications from qualified and results-oriented professionals for the position of Loans Manager.

Position Overview:
The Loans Manager will oversee the full loan lifecycle, including application review, approval coordination, disbursement management, repayment tracking, and portfolio performance monitoring. The role is critical to maintaining the financial sustainability of the Scheme and safeguarding public funds. The position reports to the Director of Finance & Administration and supervises Loans and Recovery Officers.

Key Responsibilities:
    •    Manage loan processing, verification, and compliance with policies
    •    Supervise timely loan disbursements and coordinate with Finance
    •    Develop and implement loan recovery strategies and monitor repayment performance
    •    Conduct portfolio risk assessments and prepare performance reports
    •    Support loan system improvements and ensure regulatory compliance

Qualifications & Experience:
    •    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s advantageous)
    •    5–7 years’ experience in loan administration, credit management, or financial services
    •    Proven experience in loan recovery and portfolio management
    •    Experience in public sector or regulated financial environments is desirable

Competencies:
    •    Knowledge of loan management systems and credit risk processes
    •    Strong financial analysis, reporting, and Excel skills
    •    High integrity, attention to detail, and results-oriented mindset
    •    Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Performance Indicators:
    •    Loan processing turnaround time
    •    Accuracy of disbursement records
    •    Portfolio repayment rate and reduction of defaults
    •    Compliance with audit and regulatory standards

Working Conditions:
    •    Office-based with occasional field visits
    •    Interaction with students, institutions, and stakeholders
    •    May require extended hours during peak periods
